The Thermaltake Toughpower Cable Management is no exception. If you have a power hungry machine like a Core i7 running multiple heavy duty graphics cards, then this PSU is one to add to your shortlist ..

Although this PSU is basically a 1200 watt version of the stunningly overpriced OEM failures that are the 1500W PSUs, it somehow managed to run Big Willy when the others didn’t ..

The Thermaltake Toughpower 1200W PSU is a power house. This PSU comes equipped with four +12v rails and supports 6 PCIe devices - 3x 6-pin and 3x 8-pin. It is mostly modular and features a nice large fan that provides very good cooling to this unit under normal circumstances ..

The tests speak for themselves. The PSU held very stable voltage lines across the board. It was almost begging me to purchase a Quad Crossfire setup, or two 8800GTX’s in SLI just so it could get a workout and stretch its legs ..

The Thermaltake Toughpower 1200W can excel with superb power delivery capability of up to 1200W. While I doubt any single system can even get close to that, it certainly gives you a nice headroom for overclocking. This headroom results in more stable voltages, than for example a 600W PSU ..

Q:  Why do I need a ATI CrossFire or CrossFire X Certified power supply?
A:  AMD/ATI CrossFire and CrossFire X platform allows users to utilize multiple (up to 4) graphic cards in one system for ultimate graphics performance.  Thermaltake power supplies that are AMD/ATI CrossFire or CrossFire X certified were submitted to AMD and underwent rigorous testing to make sure the power supply met AMD’s highest standard of quality and reliability.  What that means is the consumer can rest assured that the Thermaltake power supply will power your powerhouse PC for years to come.

Q:  Why do I need a 80 PLUS certified power supply?
A:  The 80 PLUS program certifies PSU that has 80% or higher energy efficiency rate at 20%, 50%, 100% of loading, plus power factor of 0.9 or greater. This requirement makes an 80 PLUS certified PSU considerably more efficient than other power supplies. In other words, a computer with an 80 PLUS certified power supply will use around 15 % to 25% less electricity, generates less heat and saves the consumer money in the long run!

Q:  Will this Power Supply work with my SLI cards?
A:  Yes, this power supply will work for SLI cards and Crossfire cards as the power supply itself was tested by ATI, thus the ATI Certification.

Q:  The power supply shows a 24 (20+4) pin ATX power connector. But the motherboard I have only has 20 pin connector, will it still work?
A:  Yes, the 20+4 pin ATX power connector design allows the extra 4pin to be removed before connecting to a 20pin motherboard.  The new 24pin ATX power connecter found on today’s PC power supply is part of the new ATX specification (ATX12V 2.0 and above) which is necessary in order to support Intel’s current generation of processor architecture and other technological advances.
